星雲香 Star Cloud
One of my favorite celestial legends is Tanabata. It's the story of two distant stars, separated by a heavenly river. In ancient times they were together, but their love burned too bright, and the universe forced them apart. One night a year, on the seventh day of the seventh month, they are allowed to cross the Milky Way and find each other again.
Star Cloud was born from that story.
私が最も好きな天上の伝説のひとつが、七夕です。天の川によって隔てられた、ふたつの遠い星の物語。古の時代、ふたりは共にありました。しかしその愛は燃えすぎて、宇宙はふたりを引き離しました。年に一度、七月七日の夜だけ、ふたりは天の川を渡り、再び巡り会うことを許されます。
星雲香は、その物語から生まれました。

Finished in deep indigo with fine golden particles that faintly glimmer even under moonlight.
Each set of three sticks is wrapped by hand in Sekishu washi, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage paper from Shimane Prefecture, in the style of tsutsumi, inspired by tanzaku.

This is a limited release and will only be available through August 19th, the date of Tanabata on the traditional lunar calendar.

The top note is frankincense, clear and alive. The heart is sandalwood, austere and dry. The base is Socotra myrrh, which adds weight and warmth.
Star Cloud is finished in deep indigo, with fine golden particles, so that even under moonlight the surface faintly glimmers, and recalls two celestial lovers separated by the cosmos.
トップノートは乳香、澄んでいて、生き生きとしています。ハートは白檀、簡素で乾いた香り。ベースはソコトラ島の没薬、深みとぬくもりを添えながらも、重さに傾くことなく、静かな余韻を残します。
星雲香は深いインディゴで仕上げられ、細かな金の粒子をまとっています。月明かりの下でさえ、その表面はかすかに輝き、宇宙によって隔てられたふたつの星の恋人たちを想わせます。

A rare resin from Commiphora abyssinica, native to the island of Socotra off the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Harvested after the seasonal monsoon rains, when rapid growth produces a resin rich in natural sugars. Three sticks of 星雲香 are wrapped together in the tradition of 折形 origata, inspired by 短冊 tanzaku — the paper strips on which Tanabata wishes are written — and wrapped in the style of 包み tsutsumi, the classical Japanese art of ceremonial gift wrapping, in which the act of wrapping itself is considered an expression of care and intention.
星雲香は三本一組として、日本の伝統的な折形の作法に倣い、一つひとつ丁寧に包装されています。その意匠は、七夕の夜に願いを託して書き記す短冊に着想を得たものです。
折形とは、贈り物を包む所作そのものに真心と敬意を託す、日本に古くから受け継がれてきた包みの美学です。星雲香には、その美意識とともに、七夕に願いを託す人々の想いを重ね、一包みごとに真心を込めています。
The paper is 石州和紙 Sekishu washi, handmade in Shimane Prefecture and recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
使用する紙は石州和紙。島根県で手漉きされ、ユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録された和紙です。
The wrapping is not merely protective. It is the first part of the experience.
